I LOVE my mom!

Hey Loves!

I know I haven't blogged in quite some time. I hope you all can forgive me! I've been really good at keeping up with my YouTube Channel lately. Unfortunately, this past Monday my mom hurt her back while trying to do laundry.  =( I've been trying to be super helpful to her. Doing chores around the house & making sure to run any errands that she needs to have done.

I really care for my mom, & I don't want her back to get any worse. I don't think I've talked about this thus far on either my YouTube Channel or my blog, but about 6 years ago, my mom had a massive stroke. It caused her to become paralyzed on the entire left side of her body.

Mom is the strongest & most determined person I know. I love her so much. In these past 6 years, my mom has been able to re-learn how to walk, cook, clean, & DRIVE. Her license was revoked, but she recently passed her driver's exam. It's so hard to see her struggling with anything. I love her, & just as anyone who loved their mother would say, I would do anything to ensure her safety & happiness.

I'm sorry for the lack of video this week. I've been super busy, & today, Wednesday, my usual day off that I use to film was extremely busy. I wasn't able to film any new videos today, but I will try to film at least one video tomorrow morning. Once my mom is doing better, I'm sure my videos will go back to be posted regularly, but I hope you all understand my absence in the meantime.

Hello my Loves!

Here's the Mini ELF Haul video I posted up not too long ago. I was trying to make a complete haul video for this, but my camera ran out of battery. =[ I did; however, record the following video with my iPhone. But unfortunately, I was not able to do swatches & really open up the packaging with one hand.

Below are the pictures, swatches, & more in-depth look at the products that I promised. Everything that I purchased was 50% OFF! So enjoy this post if you wanted a closer look at everything I purchased.

First, I have my absolute favorite product from the ELF Studio Line...

The ELF Studio Line packaging is very comparable to Nars packaging, with the exception of the tiny window allowing you to see the color of the product.

I bought four blushes in the following colors: (Clockwise from Left)
Pink Passion, Gotta Glow, Peachy Keen, Giddy Gold.

Top to Bottom: Pink Passion, Giddy Gold, Gotta Glow, & Peachy Keen

PINK PASSION is a very vibrant matte pink. It swatches extremely bright, but when applied with a blush brush & a very light hand. The color creates the perfect pink flush on my cheeks.

GIDDY GOLD is a beautiful golden, almost peachy looking color. It is very shimmery when swatched & applied to the cheeks. This is the perfect color for your cheeks for a golden glow.

GOTTA GLOW is a shimmery ivory color. This blush has been compared to Nars' Albatross. Like Albatross, this color is the perfect highlight color. It gives your face a beuatiful radiance when applied to the cheekbones & the bridge of your nose.

PEACHY KEEN is a very shimmery light peach. On my skintone, the color is barely noticeable except for the pretty peach sheen that is creates. For a lighter skintone, the peach color could be much more noticable, but for skintones similar to mine & darker, it will probably benefit best used as a higlighter for a light peach sheen on your cheek bones.

I am in love with ELF blushes! The consistency of the blushes are somewhat powdery, but they are still very well pigmented annd apply beautifully.

Next, from the ELF Studio Line, the WARM BRONZER.

This bronzer shows up extremely light, but I'll probably end up using this more as a highlight than an actual bronzer. It comes up as a very pretty luminous color, as seen in the swatch below. For skintones that are more fair, I'm sure that this product will give your face a beautiful warm bronze glow.

Next is the ELF Studio Complete Coverage Concealer in Medium.

Here is the packaging. It is very similar to the blush packaging with the window allowing you to see the colors of the concealor inside, but slightly larger.

Here's a closer look at the product. There are four colors with varying base colors, yellow, pink, neutral, etc. I did not do swatches for this, since it will blend in depending on what I'm trying to conceal.

Last but not least, I picked up two ELF Studio Glossy Glosses in Sweet Salmon & Berry Blush.

The packaging is very cute & compact. Clear plastic rectangular tubes that show the color of the product, with the brush head applicators being attached to the black plastic tops.

 Top: Berry Blush
Bottom: Sweet Salmon.

BERRY BLUSH is a pinkish red berry color. It swatches glossy without any sparkle or glitter within the product.

SWEET SALMON is a very soft light pink. It is glossy without sparkle or glitter just as the Berry Blush.

The Glossy Glosses are very well pigmented. They apply smoothly & beautifully to my lips, without a sticky feeling to them, which I love.

I am very pleased with my latest purchases from the ELF Studio Line! I feel that I got an amazing deal for these products. At $3 for each of these products, getting each item for only $1.50, feels like a STEAL!! ^_^ Be sure to keep up with my YouTube Channel for future updates, because I'm sure I will be featuring some of these products in a future favorites video!

DIY Wednesday: Make Your Own Brush Holder!

Hey Loves!

So I'm sure many of you are familiar with makeup brush holders. The photo below is the Sephora inspired one that I currently have. I made it myself using a glass container & crystals I purchased from Michaels a few months ago. This holder was fairly cheap to make, & it's quite pretty to look at on your vanity.

Unfortunately, my brushes were quickly getting overcrowded in such a tiny glass container. So I decided to head back to Michaels in search of another container to make another makeup brush holder.

At Michaels, I found glass containers in various sizes. I first considered getting the same container as the one above, but having two identical containers, with one for face brushes & one for eye brushes just didn't appeal to me. Instead, I decided on this larger rectangular glass container pictured below.

I really liked the look of this container, & I figured it would be the perfect size to fit all of my brushes together.  It only cost $10.99, which is good compared to some more expensive brush holders you find on the internet. I knew this would be best, & I was eager to put it in my shopping cart. Next, I needed more crystals to fill it with. I found the bag pictured below for only $4.99.

So with my container picked out & my crystals, I was ready to checkout. I headed home quickly to put it all together. First, simply empty the crystals from the bag into the container.

Now with that taken care of, all that's left to do is put your brushes inside. I decided to organize my brushes left to right with my larger face brushes to my small eye brushes. The finished makeup brush holder is pictured below!

Now, all my brushes are spaciously organized. I absolutely love how you can see each brush individually. This brush holder looks amazing on my vanity. This makeup brush holder is very inexpensive to make & easy to put together.

Wouldn't you want to make one of these for yourself?

How to "PROPERLY" treat a sprained ankle

Hello my Loves!!

My ankle's still healing because of what I did incorrectly this week, so for the sake of this blog, please do as I say NOT as I do. haha

The following information is from

"An ankle sprain is the stretching and tearing of ligaments in the ankle. It is the most common injury to the ankle and the long term consequences are a common cause of chronic ankle pain. 80% of ankle sprains are the inversion ankle sprain, in which the ankle rolls over on the outside.

There are 3 degrees of severity in an ankle sprain:

First degree ankle sprain:
- Some stretching or mild tearing of the ligament
- Little or no functional loss - the joint can still function and bear some weight (but hurts!)
- Mild pain
- Some swelling
- Some joint stiffness

Second degree ankle sprain:
- Some more severe tearing of the ligaments
- Moderate instability of the joint
- Moderate to severe pain - weightbearing is very painful
- Swelling and stiffness

Third degree ankle sprain:
- Total rupture of a ligament - there is a loss of motion
- Gross instability of the joint - joint function is lost
- Severe pain initially followed by no pain
- Severe swelling

As soon as you injure your ankle, you should immediately follow the P.R.I.C.E. procedure (Protect, Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate). This will prevent you from making your injury more severe.

1. Protect: Splint, tape, or brace to prevent further injury.

2. Rest: Rest from all activities that cause pain or limping. Use crutches/cane until you can walk without pain or limping.

3. Ice: Place a plastic bag with ice on the ankle for 15 mins, 3-5 times daily for the first 3 days. Leave the ice off at least 90 mins between applications. The latest recommendation from athletic trainers is to apply ice for the 1st 48 hours. Ice for 15 minutes. Immersion in ice water bath is best, but in a pinch ice cups or ice bags are better than nothing.

4. Compress: Wrap an elastic bandage from the toes to mid-calf, using even pressure, until swelling subsides. Loosen the wraps if your toes turn blue, feel cold, or begin to numb.

5. Elevate: Make sure to elevate the ankle above heart level.

6. Mobility Once comfortable to do so, perform ankle circles or write the alphabet with your toes to start to increase the mobility at the ankle. This can start on day 2 if comfortable. This will also help reduce swelling if done with the leg in an elevated position.

7. Stretch After an injury, the surrounding muscles often tighten up to protect it. After an ankle sprain, the calf muscles often get tight. It is important to stretch these to get your normal range of motion back. If you don't, it could lead to further injuries.

8. Strengthen: The P.R.I.C.E. protocol is simply first aid for a sprained ankle. Be certain to strengthen your injured ankle to prevent more severe injuries in the future.

9. Balance Work on improving your balance with a wobble board or cushion. Balance is often affected following an ankle sprain, and not working on improving this is a big part of the reason that ankle sprains happen again and again."

So as you can see, I did not follow any of these guidelines to treat my ankle. When I first realized I had sprained it, I decided to try & walk it off & assumed that it was okay. After dancing on it Monday night, I immediately noticed that it had gotten worse, but it was not unbearable pain. I continued to walk/limp on it to work everyday.

I rubbed Tiger Balm on it & wrapped it up before dance on Wednesday night, but Thursday morning, I realized my ankle had severely worsened. Since then, I continue to rub tiger balm on it & keep it wrapped, & I elevate it above my heart level when I'm relaxing.

I only wish that I hadn't ignored my sprain & convinced myself to not dance on it. My poor ankle! I've been so preoccupied with getting myself healed up, so I can dance again. I've fallen behind on my YouTube Channel, but I'm going to try & catch up on my day off this Tuesday. Please bear with me while I'm healing up! I miss you guys more than you know!!
Here's a few picks of my ankle wrapped up & the Tiger Balm that has quickly become my new best friend. haha

It is very important to keep your makeup brushes & sponges CLEAN!! You definitely DO NOT want to have bacteria slowly growing inside them & end up applying THAT to your face. GROSS!

Here's my current makeup brush cleansing routine...

I always do daily cleanses using my ELF Daily Brush Cleanser & a napkin. Whether you need to do a quick color change in between different colors, using the same brush, or you've finished using the brushes for the day's application process. I spray 1-2 pumps on each brush then wipe the hairs of my brush off onto a napkin to remove the excess pigments as well as rid the hairs of any remaing oils from my face. The ELF Daily Brush Cleanser dries almost instantly, allowing my brushes to be CLEAN & ready for their next use.

I deeply cleanse my makeup brushes at least once a week using my BareMinerals Well Cared For Brush Conditioning Shampoo. I do this to ensure that I throughly remove any excess buildup of makeup that is deeper within the brush that a quick spray cannot remove.

For my larger face brushes, I use a dime sized amount of the brush cleanser in the palm of my hand. Keeping the brush upside down to ensure that water doesn't seep up into the ferrel, I lather the brush in the palm of my hand then slowly rinse it under the faucet. It's VERY important to not get water into the ferrel as it will eventually affect the glue holding your brushes together & ruin them over time.

For my eye brushes, I group 2-3 brushes together by length. Then, I use a dime-sized amount of the brush cleanser in the palm of my hand to clean all the brushes at once. Keeping the brushes upside down as well, again to ensure that water doesn't seep up into the ferrel. I lather the brushes in the palm of my hand then slowly rinse it under the faucet.

To dry my brushes, I do not lay them FLAT, like others may have suggested to do. I personally like to dry my brushes at a downward angle. Again, it's only to ensure that no water will get into the fennel of my brushes. If you look closely at the picture above, you will see that I carefully rolled one end of the washcloth that my brushes are on. This allows me to place all the ends of my brushes at a slightly higher level than the brush hairs, allowing them to dry with any moisture being pulled down & away from inside the fennel.

I clean my Basically U Super Blender & Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge after EVERY use. This is denifinitely why I choose to keep two sponges handy. I'm aware that some people wash their makeup sponges every few uses, but knowing that they are SPONGES, I cannot let a day go by without ensuring that makeup doesn't get completely sucked up into them. I feel that this will not only extend the life of my sponges, but it will keep my mind at ease knowing that I'm only applying CLEAN sponges onto my face.

For both sponges, I work a dime sized amount of brush cleanser on the sponge into a lather, squeezing it over & over, & working my fingers over its surface to ensure I get as much makeup deep within the sponge out. I ALWAYS ensure there is very little to no remaining, visible makeup on the sponge.

So... This is my current brush & sponge care routine. I hope you guys found it helpful!

Workout Wednesday

Staying in shape is important, but not always the easiest thing to do. I try to get myself to the gym at least 4 times a week. I alternate days of cardio & weight training. But every so often, I run into that old friend, laziness. Today, I've put together a few of my favorite lazy day tips for you guys. ENJOY!

1. When waiting at a stoplight, hold in your abs until the light turns green.
- The time you spend sitting there & waiting can be turned into a quick ab exercise.
2. During commercial breaks, choose one commercial at random & contract your abs for the entire commercial.
- You can't feel any lazier than when you sit in front of a television like a complete couch potato. Turn this relaxing past time into a more productive one. Your body & especially your abs, will thank you.
3. When using public restrooms, squat over the toilet.
- Public bathrooms are filthy anyway. Why would you want to let your hands, or your booty, for that matter, touch a surface that could be harboring bacteria? Do toilet seat covers really do much justice? Work your thighs & glutes instead! Squeeze those buns as you squat & you'll burn a few extra calories.
4. Take the stairs!
- Do I really have to explain?
5. It's OK to park you car far away from your destination.
- I know you've seen people drive around & around a parking lot waiting for that perfect spot close to the entrance, but is it really that worth it to you to not have to walk a few more feet? Those extra steps you take can add up over time, & they can only do more good for your health than harm.

It's okay to be lazy sometimes, but do your best to keep your body moving!

Tuesday Tunes: Mumford & Sons

I cannot stop listening to Mumford & Sons. They are a truly amazing band. Their music really touches me on a different level than anything that I've been listening to recently. They formed in December of 2007 with the purpose of creating music that matters without taking themselves too seriously, which I feel they did exactly.

I love everything they've released thus far, & I see myself remaining a loyal fan of them & their future work. I really want to be able to watch them live. I cannot wait until they come anywhere near the San Francisco Bay Area!

Are you familiar with Mumford & Sons?

MOVIE Monday:

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out this past weekend. I am a Harry Potter fan through & through. I've read all the books & watched all the movies, so of course, I was there opening night to watch a midnight showing of the final film.

Like all the other Harry Potter Films, I was blown away by the way the book was brought to life. Everything was what I was hoping for reminiscing on the ideas running through my head when I was reading the final book. I'm almost a little sad & devasted to realize that it's all over now.

Like all the other movies, since I have read every single book, there are definitely some parts of the actual books that I wished I could have seen in the film, but I do also realize that no one should have to sit through a 5 hour movie to see every little detail of the books. But this is also why I would absolutely reccomend anyone who hasn't read the books to READ them. They are absolutely amazing & I've always found that the movies I create in my head while I'm reading are better than any director could have come up with to put on film.

I love Harry Potter, & the reality that it's over saddens me. But I'm happy knowning that I will share these books with my own children, only allowing them watch the movies after they've read each book of course. Amazing work J.K. Rowling! These stories were brilliant! Thank you!

Postcard from my love...

I received my first postcard from my boyfriend in the mail today! It was a gorgeous picture of an Okinawa road with blossoming purple flowers. It warmed my heart to see it amongst the bills in my mailbox. I wrote him his first letter & sent it out this past Monday. I can't wait until he gets it, & he gets that same feeling I did today. I miss him. Distance is tough, but I know in my heart that we are stronger than everything.

So... Apparantly, NO ONE writes letters anymore?!

Since my boyfriend deployed to Okinawa, Japan last week, I've been wanting to buy stationary, so I could write him letters. I haven't written anyone a letter in about... 10 YEARS!! Little did I know, that NO ONE writes letters anymore!! haha I went to the mall expecting to find stationary easily at Target, but no... everywhere I went, they only had blank cards & envelopes. Not exactly what I was looking for... Any stationary that I did find only had 6 sheets of paper. I finally found some at Barnes & Noble. The selection was small of course, but I was able to pick up a stationary set for $13.45, which included 100 Sheets, 50 Envelopes, & 24 Sticker Seals... Not too bad.

Letters the the boyfriend will commence until he comes back to me in 6 months... =[

Check out the video I made about our Long Distance Relationship!

I've found a new LOVE...YouTube

Hey guys!

My friend ValerieJoyce29 from YouTube got me hooked into starting my own YouTube Channel. I have been loving it & have recently become obsessed with making videos. Once I've completed one video, my mind is instantly thinking about what video I'm going to be doing next. I'm in LOVE!!

Once I joined the YouTube Beauty Guru community, I felt the need to expand my social networking. haha I started a new twitter specifically for my YouTube viewers, & the decision to start a blog came soon after. I'm sure that as my life becomes more busy & hectic at times, this will be a much easier way to keep my mind at ease when I'm unable to make YouTube videos.

Please check out & subscribe to my YouTube Channel if you have not done so already!

& Here's my latest video!

So... That's it for my very 1st blog post!
