Refresh your Beauty Routine with Evian Facial Spray

During the winter months, I find that my skin gets much drier than usual. Quickly going from the cold outdoor temperatures to the warm indoor temperatures really drains all the moisture from my skin. If you have dry, sensitive skin like mine, you might understand exactly how I feel. I’m always on the lookout for hydrating products that won’t irritate my skin. Luckily, thanks to BrandBacker and Evian, I’ve added a new product to my Beauty arsenal, Evian Brumisateur Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray.

For my evening skincare routine, after removing all of the day’s makeup and washing my face, I'll mist my face to remove any remaining tap water and cleanser, while also toning and hydrating my skin. I let the mist settle into my skin by either fanning my face or lightly patting my face dry, followed by moisturizer to seal in the added boost of hydration. This simple step that I've added to my evening skincare routine has allowed me to wake up every morning with a hydrated and glowing complexion.

I also love using Evian Facial Spray to set my makeup. When I’m done applying my makeup, I lightly mist my face in a circular motion, holding the spray about 9 to 12 inches from my face. I find it not only sets my makeup, but it also gives my face a dewier, natural look. The 5 oz. leak-proof canister that I have is perfect to take on-the-go. I usually stash it in my backpack during the work week for use at the office. I use it throughout the day, whenever I feel like refreshing my skin.

The Evian Facial Spray is available in a few sizes, depending on the retailer. Most stores carry three-packs of their smallest 1.7oz (50ml) travel-size sprays that typically retails for $19.50. If you can pick up a trio, you’ll be able to keep a canister at your fingertips whenever you may need it. This size is perfect for stashing in your purse or keeping at your desk at work! (Also, if you can find it, a single travel-size spray retails for $7.00). If you’d like a bigger canister like the one I have, there’s also the 5oz. (150ml) size, which is great to stash in a gym bag or tote. (The 5oz. canister typically retails for $12.00.) Lastly, there’s an economy/professional 10oz. (300ml) size for your home vanity that typically retails for $17.50. Also, FYI, prices will slightly rise on February 1^st of 2015, so I’d suggest buying it ASAP!

5. I have the exact same Nike+ GPS Sportwatch as one of my favorite actors, Tom Hiddleston. (I was in the market for a good running watch, and the one in his exact same color just happened to be on sale. I figured it was meant to be.)

6. When I was younger, I had a phobia of flushing the toilet. (I was in the bathroom during the 1989 Loma Preita earthquake. It began right as I flushed the toilet. Keep in mind that I was only 2 years old, so for years, I would flush the toilet and run away. LOL)

7. I have a "teardrop" birthmark beneath my right eye. However, you'll hardly ever see it in pictures of me, since I do feel that my left is my better side.

Achieve Beautiful Curls this Holiday Season with the KISS InstaWave

With holiday parties lined up throughout this month, I've been looking for a way to cut my party prep time in half. With a huge thank you to BrandBacker and KISS USA, I want to share with you my newest beloved hair tool, my KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler!   

At first glance, the KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler does look a bit intimidating. Honestly, I was a bit hesitant to use it at first, fearful of my hair getting caught in the rotating device. Rest assured, the InstaWave is indeed a fully tangle-free curler that instantly creates beautiful curls!

It's super easy to use from any angle with either hand. The curl dial has both left and right curl directions. I personally prefer to curl my hair away from my face on either side, when trying to create a more polished look. For a more natural look, you can also alternate the direction of the curls you make with each new strand of hair.

Holding the wand vertically. the innovative looking dial spins, wrapping your hair around the wand with very little effort. I keep my hair wrapped around the wand for anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds. The longer I wait, the tighter the look of my curls and less natural and beachy looking.

If you're still hesitant about using this intimidating looking hair tool, know that it has 2 heat settings low and high. If you have hair like mine that holds curl very easily, you'll definitely be able to use it at the low setting. On high, the maximum temperature it reaches is 420 degrees. Regardless of the heat setting you use, I'd recommend using a heat protection spray. (My personal favorite is TRESemme's Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave-In Spray. It provides protection up to 450 degrees!) Also, as a great safety precaution, for those of you who may be forgetful with your heat tools, the InstaWave automatically shuts off after 90 minutes.

Paula Dorf's Aztec City Eye Color Palette and Lash Color Mascara in Teal

Most of you already know that I love wearing neutral eye makeup on a daily basis. Lately, I've been on the look out for ways to add a pop of color to my every day eyes. Thanks to BrandBacker and Paula Dorf Cosmetics, I've found my new favorite every day eye palette!

I have the Paula Dorf Aztec City Eye Color Palette and the Lash Color in Teal to share with you today. First of all, I loved the sleek packaging of the eye shadow palette and mascara. The mascara especially, because of the smooth matte feeling when I'm holding it between my fingers when applying. 

The Aztec City Eye Color Palette includes the five gorgeous colors pictured above, with a duo ended brush. The first color in the palette was a white, satin finish, followed by a azure blue with a golden sheen to it. The middle shade was a taupe, satin finish, and the last two colors were matte, light brown and dark brown. 

I've never owned a colored mascara before, so I was so excited to try out the Paula Dorf Lash Color in Teal. As a contact lense wearer, I was happy to discover the gentle, water-resistant, and smudge-proof formula.

With the eye shadow palette and mascara, I was able to create the eye look pictured above. First, I used the matte light brown shade in my crease, followed by applying the satin, taupe shade all over my lid. I then applied the matte dark brown in my outer corners and the satin, white shade on my brow bone. Lastly, I absolutely LOVE the look of the azure blue shade on my bottom lash line. The lighting in the picture above makes it look more golden toward the inner corner of my eye and naturally deepen into the azure blue toward my outer corner. This was BY FAR, my favorite shade in the palette as it's appearance on was constantly changing with the light.

EAT, DRINK, & BE THANKFUL!

I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to the Holiday Season, Thanksgiving is never the holiday I'm most excited for. Unlike my younger brother Bentz, who enjoys engorging himself in delicious food, I'm the one who usually ends up dreading my inevitable Holiday weight gain, sulking in the corner.

This year, inspired by my co-worker and fellow blogger, Stephanie, I've decided to embrace the true importance of Thanksgiving, and that is to be thankful! It's easy to get lost in the everyday shuffle once this time of the year encroaches upon us, so I'm happy to take the time today to make note of the things that I'm most thankful for at this time in my life.

MY HEALTH

It's easy to forget that getting old is privilege. I made a conscious effort in this past year to eat clean and stay active. I'm thankful for each and every day that I can still lace up my running shoes and take a deep breath.

MY FAMILY

I can't emphasize how much I love and am thankful for my family. My parents are both incredibly strong role models, and my brother and sister are truly my best friends. I can't even begin to explain how different my life would be without them. They keep me grounded and laughing. They support me in all my endeavors with unconditional love and understanding of who I am, and I'm forever grateful for that. 

MY FRIENDS

Whether I've known you for most of my life or we've gotten closer within this past year, I only choose to surround myself with the absolute best people. Being an introvert, making new friends doesn't happen very often for me. So if I can call you my friend, know that I mean it with my whole heart! Thank you for all the laughs and the memories we've had, and here's to making more together in the years to come!

I never imagined that I'd get to work in an industry that I love and am passionate about. I'm so thankful that I get to work with some of the most amazing and talented individuals. Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil - Fringe

The first item I received was the Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil in Fringe. The pencil glides on my waterline and tight line effortlessly, without any tugging, which you may know is known to cause those tiny wrinkles on your eyelids or around your eye area. I love brown eye liner for every day eye looks. It's a great alternative to black. It makes your eyes look bright and awake without looking too intense or smokey like some black eye liners do. 

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss - Basic Instinct

The next item I received was the Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Basic Instinct. As you can see in the picture above, it is a very light, nude yet almost baby pink shade. Although this color is a bit too light for my particular skin tone, I plan on layering this with other lip colors I have in my collection, by dabbing a tiny bit of this on the center of my bottom lip. If you don't know, placing gloss on the center of your bottom lip creates a look of fullness and more dimension for a gorgeous pucker. 

Be a Bombshell Smooth Criminal Powder

Next, I have the Be a Bomshell Smooth Criminal Powder. This light-weight silica powder is perfect for finishing your face. If you have a light to medium skintone, you can lightly dust this all over your face to set your face makeup for a flawless finish. If you're more tan, you can still use this powder by lightly dusting it over your T-zones where you get oiliest. Your T-zones include the center of your forehead, nose, sides of nose, upper lip, and chin. 

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel - Pretty Piggy

Now, for the item I was most excited about receiving this month, here's the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Pretty Piggy. Typing on a computer all day and washing dishes, usually wreck havoc on a regular mani, so I was very eager to get this. I love gel polish, since they last so much longer than standard polishes. Unlike other gel manicures I've gotten at a nail salon, this particular polish doesn't need a UV light to set itself. I can't wait to stat saving money by doing my own gel manicures at home! :)

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask

The last item I got this month was the Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. In case you guys don't already know, I like to use a deep conditioning mask on my hair once a week, to keep my hair looking, strong, shiny, and healthy overall. A small tub like this is perfect for when I'm traveling. I never like to skip a deep conditioning day. 

Bellapierre Cheek and Lip Stain & Illuminating Mineral Bronzer

Lastly, I redeemed 1,000 ipsyPoints last month to get the Bellapierre Cheek and Lip Stain & Illuminating Mineral Bronzer. The Cheek and Lip Stain was a very pretty pink. With my particular skin tone, I think the cheek and lip stain will give a great natural looking flush to my cheeks or a great pinkish nude tint to my lips without making look too pale or zombie-ish.  The bronzer is too light for me, but I think it'll work great as a golden highlighter when dusted on my cheekbones. Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove & Dry'n Shape

I always tell my friends and family that great makeup begins with great skin. Deep cleaning your makeup brushes is very important, to prevent oil and dirt being transferred from your tools to your face. Clogged pores lead to breakouts, and if you're not careful, bacteria can begin to grow deep within your brush! GROSS!

This past Sunday, I gathered my brushes for deep cleaning. I was especially eager, because this was the first time I got to use my Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove & Dry'n Shape.

The Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove is AMAZING! It was designed specifically for deep cleaning your entire makeup collection, quickly and easily. It has two sides for large, face and small, eye makeup brushes. There's also three specific areas, with varying textures and surfaces, to easily guide you through the cleaning process. Compared to previous deep cleaning days, I was able to wash all of my brushes in half the time! :) 

After completing the washing process, I placed as many brushes as I could in my Sigma Dry'n Shape. I love how I can roll it up and dry the brushes upside down. The Dry'n Shape was great! As promised, my brushes were dry within 4-6 hours. I only wish that I had another one for all of my brushes to fit and more slots for smaller eye brushes. The remaining majority of my brushes had to be left to dry in a downward position on a towel. 

Lastly, if you were wondering how I was able to return my incredibly dirty, brown makeup brushes from the top picture, back to the white, white tipped, or vibrant green bristles showing in the 2nd picture from the bottom, I use the Beauty Blender Cleanser. It's definitely not just for cleaning your makeup sponges. I LOVE using this to clean all of my tools! <3

Boy... Oh Boy!

Inspired by my friend Luis, who generally doesn't give a $#!+ about Fashion, I created the outfit above. I always get jealous of how guys can simply throw together a few casual pieces from their closet without much time and effort, and they'll still look somewhat stylish and put together. I kept this in mind when choosing these items. I decided to pick pieces that were similar to what I already have in my wardrobe.

These distressed boyfriend jeans, a black & white striped t-shirt, a canvas utility jack with faux-leather sleeves, and cut-out ankle boots are staples that I think most girls already have in their closets. Although it's still pretty warm here in San Francisco, I can't wait for the weather to cool down! I think it's perfect for Fall, sweater weather. :)

Saying Goodbye To Summer!

As many of you already know, I lost my camera when I went to Monterey, CA with my sister recently. I haven't been able to upload any new videos since it happened, and I cannot even begin to explain how much I missed filming, editing, and uploading new videos for you all! I've been keeping busy with work a lot more lately, but I definitely wanted to keep at least my blog updated for you all.

My Success with 21 Day Fix!

In late May, my childhood friend Stephanie of Pretty Runner, convinced me to try the 21 Day Fix Beachbody Challenge. I've been half-marathon training for my 2nd Half, the GIANT Race on September 7th. I've been on a consistent running schedule for a while now and eating mindfully, but I wanted something to really push me further to get me the results and changes I wanted to see for my body. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll already know that I finished my 21 Day Fix this past Monday, June 23rd . My experience with the program was so successful that I wanted to share it with you all. 

What is it?

For those of you who don't already know, 21 Day Fix is a simple eating and fitness plan by Beachbody that lasts 3 weeks(hence the name "21 Day Fix"). It's meant to help you break your bad habits and set you on a better, healthier path. 

Fitness Schedule
Each day, I did a 30 min workout focusing on different areas of my body. The only equipment necessary was a set of light and heavy hand weights. I've never had much upper body strength, so I was thoroughly impressed when I bumped up the weights I was using for my daily workouts from 5lbs to 8lbs. :) I loved the variety of workouts. It really helped keep my body guessing, focusing on different areas and different types of movement. The workout DVDs included: Total Body Cardio Fix, Upper Fix, Lower Fix, Pilates Fix, Cardio Fix, Dirty 30, Yoga Fix, & my Challenge Pack came with an awesome bonus workout, Plyo Fix!

Eating Plan 
The 21 Day Fix kit comes with color coded containers that are the perfectly portioned for each food group. Based on your weight, you get a certain number of each container per day. You can mix and match containers to make your meals. There's also an eating guide that has everything listed so you know what foods you can eat for each container, even though the color coding of each container makes it pretty self-explanatory.

Shakeology
My Kit also included Shakeology, a delicious super-food shake that helped keep me full, prevent cravings, and refuel my body! I chose the box including 24 packets of Chocolate Shakeology. Also, I was so grateful to my best friend, Jessica, who was kind enough to trade two packets of her Strawberry and Vanilla Shakeology with me to taste and get a bit more variety.

My Typical Day on the Fix
I usually wake up and brew a cup of coffee and stick it in the fridge to cool while I get ready to head into work. Once I'm dressed and ready to go, I grab my lunch and snacks that I prepped the night before from the fridge. Then, I'll blend my usual 1 cup of cooled coffee with ice & a packet of Chocolate Shakeology. Out of convenience, I take the train to work every day. My office is only two stops away, so I'm usually on and off the train within 6 minutes. I walk to the train station with my Shakeology in hand, and I enjoy it while I wait on the platform.

Around 10:30, I have my morning snack, usually celery & peanut butter. My typical lunch is a salad with spinach, eggs, black beans, and mozzarella cheese with light, fix-approved, Italian dressing.

When I get home after work in the late afternoon, I change into my workout gear and take the dogs for a quick walk. Afterward, I do whichever workout is scheduled for that day, followed by a quick 2-3mi run depending on the route I choose to take. (By the way, I only run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with one longer +5mi run on the weekends). When I'm done for the day and completely exhausted, I refuel with a delicious, green smoothie! I also found that this was the best way for me to get in my purple containers/fruit for the day! :)

Dinner is usually some lean protein with veggies and carbs. I usually try to eat whatever containers I have left over for the day at Dinner, especially if I've done a workout and a longer run. I found that eating my remaining containers at Dinner time really helped me prevent late night snacking. 

After dinner, I start my meal and snack prep for the next day. An important part of this program was taking my nutrition very seriously, which I did. I honestly don't think I could have gotten the results I did without consistently prepping my meals and snacks the night before.  

DOUBLES OPTION! Week Three: Days 15-21
The last and final week of the 21 Day Fix was the most challenging of the whole program. This particular week, I decided to double my workouts. It was optional, but I chose to push myself and just do it.  I was a bit apprehensive going into the week at first, but I was quickly amazed at my strength. This week definitely helped me get closer to my fitness goals! :)

Progress & Final Results
In the end, I lost 7lbs and 17 inches overall. I've never been one to share pictures of my body on the internet, but I'm so proud of my progress and final results. Overall, this program taught me how much of  difference putting in 30 min a day and being very mindful in the kitchen can really accomplish. Even though I'm not on the Fix anymore, I still make an active effort to get my heart pumping each day and incorporate lots of veggies and fruit into my diet. My body has transformed from week to week. I'm so glad and thankful to Stephanie for reaching out to me and recommending this awesome program!

As many of you already know, I’ve been on the hunt for a new eye cream, so I was lucky to receive this awesome Hydrating Eye Crème with Cucumber Extract.

In my night time skin care routine, I like to apply my eye cream after applying any serums. If you don’t use serums, feel free to apply your eye cream after toning, but before moisturizing with any heavy lotions.

The cucumber extract reduces inflammation and irritation, so say goodbye to itchy or puffy under eyes. It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving the elasticity of your skin. I’m only 27, but to me, it’s never too early to prevent premature signs of aging!

Lastly, I forgot eye makeup remover on my trip to LA. This Hydrating Eye Crème actually doubles as a makeup remover. After a long, tiring workday, I was so happy I didn’t have to go out and buy makeup remover. Next, I want to share with you all the Pomegranate Facial Polish! As you may already know, exfoliating is my favorite part of my skin care routine, so needless to say, I was extremely eager to test this out!

Pomegranate Facial Polish

First off, I want to say that this stuff smells AMAZING! If you’re not fond of fruity scents, or don’t like scented skin care products in general, don’t worry! This is available scented and unscented.

With dry skin, I exfoliate twice a week. Once a week, I deeply exfoliate with my Clarisonic Mia, and again as needed with a normal face scrub, like this one. I don’t like packing my Clarisonic for quick weekend trips, so I was glad to have this with me when my face craved a good scrub.

As the craziness died down by Sunday evening, I used this while in the shower, and I gave myself a mini facial. I took about a quarter-sized amount in my fingers then applied it to my face, gently exfoliating in small circular motions for about 1-2 minutes. I was happy to discover the tiny, natural jojoba beads that slowly removed the dead skin cells from the long weekend from my face. I emerged from the shower feeling refreshed and woke up to a gorgeous, glowing complexion!
